At Senior Citizens, Inc. we could not deliver over 1,800 meals a day without the help of a strong volunteer core. Be a part of an organization that makes a difference everyday. Here is a brief description of our current projects:
Meals on Wheels
Delivery of lunchtime meals to homebound seniors and activity centers Monday through Friday. The commitment is about one hour of time. There are many routes throughout Savannah and outlying counties.
Brown Bag Food Delivery
Help sort canned food items from Second Harvest Food Bank. The bags are delivered to seniorsduring the last week of month - very flexible schedule
Ruth Byck Adult Day Care
Join in or lead activities with seniors (arts and crafts, puzzles, bingo, music, etc.) who attend the Day Care Center.
Sterling Rides: A Volunteer Transportation Program
If you love to drive, this is for you! The driving program involves transporting seniors to appointments, grocery store, shopping, etc. Set your own hours.
Saturdays for Seniors
These are group projects for the weekender. Yard work, light construction, normally held at senior’s homes. Very seasonal.
Seasonal Care Packages
Help decorate and fill gift boxes or baskets with small household items to be delivered to homebound seniors. Perfect for a group holiday project.
We also have special, seasonal projects such as a blanket drive and delivery in the cooler months, holiday projects and delivery, and a phone buddy program. There is something for everyone!
